Total Dynatrans ACX is replacing the Total Dynatrans AC range. It will also be available in SAE 10W, 30, 50 and 60 viscosity grades. This means Total will be discontinuing of Dynatrans AC, which contains levels of a reprotoxin called Tetrapropenyl Phenol (TPP). This reprotoxin exceeds the limit of 0.3% allowed by the European Commission’s REACH regulations.
In addition to cutting back TPP, Dynatrans ACX offers more advanced lubrication technology – allowing for more superior performance levels to Dynatrans AC. The X in its name refers to improved performance levels: in protection, oxidation stability and service life.
In addition to the AC range approvals being covered, the ACX meets the requirements of:
- Caterpillar HYDO Advanced
- Allison TES 439 specifications in the SAE 10W and 30 viscosities
- API CF-2 in the SAE 10W, 30 and 50 viscosities
- API GL-4 across all products in the range
In a hydraulic application, Dynatrans ACX has been formulated to rival Caterpillar HYDO Advanced 10, 20 and 30. Under optimal conditions, it could achieve drain intervals up to three times that of Dynatrans AC, contingent on oil monitoring. Worth noting: Dynatrans ACX 60 is suitable only in Caterpillar axles and final drives equipped with friction discs which specify a TO-4 product is required. In all other cases requiring an SAE 60, Dynatrans FD-1 60 is the recommended product as specified by Caterpillar.
Like for like grades can be mixed in any ratio with guarantee of suitability – for example AC 10W and ACX 10W.
A Certificate of Compatibility (published by Total Lubricants) confirms the congruency of Dynatrans AC and ACX products. Note the colour variation between the two products – with Dynatrans ACX being lighter than AC, particularly in the SAE 10W and 30 grades.
Production of Dynatrans ACX in Singapore began end of 2018. Upon arrival of the product, transitioning from Dynatrans AC will commence. Please contact your local rep with any questions.
